2006 Poster Contest
“Water Wise”
The 2006 "WATER WISE" State Poster Contest sponsored by MACDE was a great success. Contest coordinator Region 2 representative Mary Fleissner would like to thank the 18 districts for their participation. 47 posters were received to compete in all five different grade categories, K - 12.
The state contest is judged using NACD poster contest rules. All participating districts were asked to also use these rules with their own contests. Judging took place November 15 at the MSU Extension office in Stephenson, MI. Three lovely ladies volunteered their time to act as judges. After some coffee and donuts, they were ready to begin the tough task of choosing the top posters.
Posters were judged using the following criteria. 50% Conservation Message, 30% Visual Effectiveness, 10% Originality, and 10% Universal Appeal. Every poster entered received a participation certificate. The top three posters for each of the five categories also received Wal-Mart gift cards. First place - $40 card, Second place - $25 card and Third place - $10 card.

The 2007 Poster Contest theme is "CONSERVATION'S POWER". Today is the day to be part of conservation's power. Mary will be emailing out theme information very soon. Or you can look on the NACD website, www.nacdnet.org Choose 'education and outreach' from the menu on the left side of site. From the drop down menu, choose 'stewardship program'.
